Leontarion, burned

The well known station and depot of Leontarion, Arkadia, central Peloponnissos. Once it was a green paradise, far away from the next village, only built because of the expected but never finished branch-line to Sparta. Unfortunately, the whole side has been burned during the great fires of 2006. To make things worse, instead of the never finished railway a new highway is under construction, destroying an untouched and unspoiled valley, and crossing the backyard of this side.
regular train services have been "temporarily" ceased many years ago, due to the reconstruction of the line. Now, that the line is finished, and a lot of money has been spent, decission has been taken to abandon the network as a whole.
The picture shows one of the very scarce service trains on that line, when the transfer of a unit from one part of the network to the other was needed. These services are obsolete now. Leontarion, early spring 2010.
